Compression Fractures

Osteoporosis (low bone density) can predispose patients to compression fractures of the spine following even minor trauma. This is a very painful condition, typically requiring bed rest, pain medications, a back brace, and months of recovery while the fracture heals. At Georgia Brain & Spine Center, we offer minimally invasive “incision-less” procedures known as balloon kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty to strengthen the fractured bone and to dramatically relieve pain, allowing a patient’s rapid return to normal life. Effective and clinically proven, these treatments typically last less than an hour and can be performed as an inpatient or outpatient procedure, under local or general anesthesia.
